NCAA Men's Golf Championships -- Day 2/3

Wednesday was a very long day for the Demon Deacons. The round was delayed for nearly four hours and once they got on the course, the golf wasn't all that kind to them.

Inverness is a long course and the rough is very thick. Add the rain to it and now the rough is unbearable. The teams at the top of the leaderboard are the ones keeping their golf balls out of the rough. Wake has struggled with that over the last day and a half.

Still, the team is optimistic about their round this afternoon. They feel that if they can get out there and get a few birdies early, they may be able to get on a roll. The only downside to that is most of the players will have to finish their third rounds Friday morning because of the 4:35 pm start.

Wake certainly didn't get the better part of the weather this week. For instance, Oklahoma State is on top of the leaderboard and the Cowboys have pretty much played uninterrupted. They went out and played very well yesterday mornning in ideal conditions before the rain and only had to finish two or three holes after the delay. That's the way is goes sometimes. Hopefully the Deacs can finish out the third round on a strong note and who knows, maybe something crazy will happy this afternoon.
