NCAA Men's Golf Championships -- Day 2

The first day of the 2009 NCAA Men's Golf Championships at the Inverness Club didn't go as well as the Deacs had hoped and Day 2 hasn't started out much better. Wake was looking to make a move on Wednesday but Mother Nature has put a halt on the action. Play was suspended at 11:40 am this morning as the officials wanted to let the severe weather clear the area. As of now, it has not rained at the course but talking with coach Jerry Haas back at the hotel, it was pouring. So we'll see what happens.

Wake had to dance through the rain drops yeasterday as well, starting out in the light rain. Daniel Meggs, who had the best round of the day for the Deacons, said "The rain was more annoying than anything. We had to try and hold our umbrellas, keep things dry and oh yea, play a 480-yard par 4."

The scoring conditions were oblviously tougher in the morning on Tuesday and the Deacs went on to card a 302. But these 54-holes are sort of like a mini qualifier, as the teams are vying for a spot in the top eight. Coming into the day, the Deacs were 8-shots out of eighth and at the time of the delay, they were still eight back.

Hopefully things clear out of here this afternoon and Wake can atleast get a few holes in. This may make for a long Thursday. Check back after the round for a recap of today's action (if there is any).
